23 athletes of Kwa Thema Striders AC participated in the 2025 98th edition of the Comrades Marathon. The Comrades Marathon is an ultra Marathon that takes place in the Province of Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN) and it its typically 86km-90km long. The race either starts from Pietermaritzburg to Durban (Down) or vice-versa (UP) and it is the most popular marathon in the world and considered a "rite of passage" to many South African athletes for marathon running. This year the ultra marathon was the "Down" run, 90km long and you can ask anyone who tackled the distance and they will tell tell you that there's nothing "Down" about it. Yet, KTSAC saw another clean sweep, with all 23 athletes who started the race finished the race. One could say, KTSAC has a 100% finish back-to-back for both the up-run (2024) and the down-run (2025) and if the CMA had a special medal for clubs who did that, KTSAC would have gotten it 🙂
The Build Up: 2025
KTSAC organised the Chairman's Breakfast run on the 31st of May 2025 which serves as a send-off run for those who'd be tackling the race. The run is open to KTSAC supporters and athletes to encourage those who'll be running especially novices.
